but i can play the guitar pretty good and while i probably wouldn't fool any of you guys as long as i can get it to sound half assed i'm ok with it. as far as me ever bein a banjo player in the same league with any of you guys goes ? well its a bit late in the game for that for me. and the bridge is hopefully bein made as we're doin this. i been workin on guitars for about 45 years so settin up this banjo ain't a problem. as far as the intonation goes no problem there. If you are going to go 6 string.1930s Gibsons or modern Deerings. I don't mean to sound pretentious or 's just sound advice based on experience. Some basic lessons and a few months practice for someone familiar with picking and you'll have basic 5 string down at a level far better than the same time spent with a 6 string will ever produce. You don't have to play like Earl or JD or anyone else. There are many great affordable bluegrass banjos available for far less than the cost of a Deering or 1930s Gibson Guitar Banjo and you won't come off sounding like a joke to the people in the world who either love to listen to or love to play a 5 string banjo.

but i'd still like to ask you guys what you think of some of the brands of 6 string banjos. but whats done is done so now i have to soldier on with what i have.
